RIP
Dear Telkom,
It's been a long time, but the time has come to say good-bye. We've had our ups and downs, our good times and bad times.
It's me, it's not you.
I've come to realize that my priorities have shifted, and are obviously no longer aligned with yours. Customer service has become more important to me than price-of-line. I cannot spend hours with you on the phone like in the old days any more. When I want something done, I want it done now! No questions asked. Why? Because I believe that is what I pay for.
I came home this afternoon, and yet again my internet went down on me, and I don't mean in the good dirty way, but in the bad very bad dirty way. And so I said to myself, "Myself, this is it, I've had enough of her excuses, always being slow, I'm going to find someone else to please me in ways I deserve to be pleased!" And thus, I started my search.
First stop, Web Africa. It took my about 2m35s to find exactly what I want, pay for it, and be connected. OK, maybe my stopwatch was a bit slow, but at least I didn't have to spend hours on a line, listening to the same 10 chords being played over and over and over and over again... I'll try this service for a while, and if I'm not satisfied, I will move on. Never again will I be pegged down by commitments. Doing it "for the children" time is over.
Once I was up and running, I decided to give you, my ex-beloved Telkom, a call in order to give you the [-]good[/-] bad news. Went through the normal prompts on 10210, and as luck would have it, it took about 60seconds for you to take my call, so I could cancel my service. This lady in retentions, whatever her name is, was the most helpful Telkom person I've spoken to, to date. And I'm not even trying to be funny. She was friendly, well spoken, didn't even try to dissuade me from my obviously already made up mind. She knew what I want, and how I wanted it. Thanks unknown-telkom-retentions-lady, you rock.
Like sands through and hour glass.... so come the days of our ISP relationship.... to an end.
Good luck with your future endeavours.
Regards,
faniedry
