My TiPB's hdd passed away last night which means having to figure out how to reinstall the OS on a new drive without a screen. That too went the way of the dodo last year and I've been running it via remote access using my plasma as a screen.

Biggest pain - having to re-rip all the little one's barney dvd's.

Hard disc is cheap to replace. Is it worth it to have the screen repaired/replaced? What is wrong with it?

Dear Bwana,
I R sorry for your loss. Condolences.
Cheers - but its almost back up :)

Ah, the beauty of firewire and target disk mode. :D

I bought it as salvage from an insurance claim. Took everything off including the hinges and its been merrily ticking along as my media machine for the past year or so.

EDIT - my mini should be arriving any day so after that I'll probably just tuck it in the cupboard and use it for downloading.

/cancels netflorist order
:D
Good on ya!
Thanks but I still have to run all my kid's Barney dvds through handbrake and that's not a job any man should have to do . . . twice in a lifetime.

That's more or less my plans for my HP notebook when I finally get my MBP. It has so many problems but at least the network card works reliably.

You'll probably be tempted to use the MBP instead with it's remote control ;)
/orders poptarts instead
:D
Now that I could do with

//off to check the cupboard :D

EDIT - yum - toasted pastry treat :)

EDIT EDIT - all up and running again - massaging a bit of data off the old drive including all those Barney dvds! Inadvertently loaded 10.3 but thats ok.

Geez, still don't have it? That is seriously annoying!
14 days in customs.

Remind me the point of using a courier that assures you four working days but by looking at the tracking I could see it took 4 days just get to jnb.

UPS next time.

EDIT - i've still got my RAM :D

Well, holding on to it for 14 days without use is criminal. I will PM my address for you to send it along.

B@st@rd :D
lol - the courier's idea of making things right is they say they've now put a "Priority" sticker on it.

Wow

How much you offering?

B@st@rd again! Should have known the offer was too good to be true! :p
They find the idea of being sold off to go to an obsolete machine repugnant.

Fussy little ram isnt it.

Hmmm, you better stop with that obsolete crap of yours. How's your powerbook dude? :p
Fussy owner of said ram if you ask me!

My powerbook? It freekin rocks and will continue to until Adobe releases their pro apps as universals. ;) Until then there really isnt any point in me upgrading.

I wonder what the specs will be by then. :)
