You need to flash new firmware to the handset!
Probably not something that you can undertake yourself as you'll need as a minimum a serial (not USB) data cable and these are not readily available. You will also need a program called OneNAND downloader and of course the unbranded flash files which total some 80Mb.
I'd suggest taking it to a professional to do. They shouldn't charge more that R150 but remember to backup any vital data on the phone before the flash is done.
If you are really brave and do want to try to a DIY job, let me know and I'll let you know where to download the files.
What are the advantages of debranding?
Where can I get one of these cables?
The advantages of debranding are cosmetic - On startup you'll see an animated Samsung logo and your wallpapers will be unbranded. That's about it!
The cable needs to be made up! The professional will usually have a special box to do such flashing and the cost of these is around R1750! You could try to doctor a D900 USB cable (using just the connector) and attach it to a powered serial cable. The latter item I've never been able to source in SA, I got my last one from the UK.
Its a lot of effort just to avoid the Vodacom logo! Closing your eyes for 20 seconds or never turning your phone off is far easier!![]()
Possibly the only speed increase would be the startup time from turning the phone on from off! You may save about one second or an astounding six minutes per year if you switch your phone of every night!![]()
