I was on version 100.** and there has been version 110.** over a year ago released, but with Vodacoms branding I was unable to update. Now version 202.12.01 was released. And due to the branding we cannot get this updated firmware. (improved internet speeds, email, etc)

So... I called customer care, and they said impossible we have to stay on ver 100....

I've managed to come across a way not only to debrand the handset but also updating to the latest version 202 firmware, and OMW this handset is flying!!! The internet speed seems to have trippled as well as other improvements. And my handset works 110% Why does VC do this to us?

:D UNBRANDED AND UPDATED :D UP YOURS VC :p

If anyone wants more info PM me.

I just updated my E65 from 1.0633.18.something to 2.0633.68.something and I can notice F-all difference. The only thing that's changed is the default themes now come in grey, purple and pink instead of grey, blue and red. Is there somewhere you can view like a "changelog" for these firmwares?

Vodafone is too lazy to incorporate all the Nokia bugfixes into their version of the firmware, so users have to live with the bugs. I try to avoid Vodafone phones nowadays, it's just easier to get an unbranded and unlocked phone on eBay. Just recently got an E72 from Singapore.

Does debranding the handset affect the warranty? Mine is a work phone and whilst I would like updated firmware, I also need to ensure that the warranty is not affected as any repairs would then be for my own account.

Not sure about a log but *#0000# gives you some info of the software. I can't believe how fast my browsing is. It feels like I upgraded to a 4meg line!!!

It probably would affect the warranty, but it depends on what goes wrong with it whether they can detect the change.

For example, if your motherboard pops, then they can't tell. If you want a button fixed, then they may be able to see the change.
