Hi guys and gals,

So I got myself into some debt some time ago, and now I want to get out.

The question here is what are my best options in debt consolidation, who to choose as I don't know what I owe to who and how much?

I just want to add that I'm currently under debt review and my purpose of this thread is to get my name cleared.

Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.

If you are under debt review, you need to speak to your debt counsellor.

No one will give you a new loan (debt consolidation is still a new loan). No one.

That you don't even know who you owe and how much is very scary. I really suggest you speak to your debt counsellor

Yes scary I know. I made bad choices. None the less any good debt counsellors you know of? I'm very new to this so please excuse my lack of knowledge in this area.

Surely you got one when you went under debt review?

Are you sure you are under proper debt review and not "debt review"? As mentioned above you should have a debt councillor so theres doubts about what you are actually under.

Personally R8400 is not a large amount of debt as far as I am concerned. Not to trivialise even that moderate amount however- you should just offer and start paying back R500 or whatever a month. Even if they say no. These debt councillors are simply another expense and unless you are legally compelled to use them stay far away.

If the person/company you owe wants to issue summons then firstly do not ignore or else they will get default judgment. I would put in a motion to defend and explain to the Magistrate how you are paying off R500 a month. Watch how quick he chucks them out of court.

Disclaimer: The above is my personal opinion and not legal advice.

Just phoned the people I owe money to. Will pay them directly. Not going through any debt counsellors. Thanks
