I don't remember the specific one and I currently have a hikvision IP based unit.. But, I was quoted on analogue units capable of 1080p back in the day, so they do exist..Ok, any links to a recommended unit? What do you own?
I see units that don't do 1080 and wondered what the software is like.
This description doesn't match the pic then:

i run 12 IP camera's on full 1080 with no noticeable effect on the networkAh... got it. I was thinking it needed a switch built in but duh... of course it doesn't.
I guess ideally it would be segmented on the LAN.
I'm curious... with h.265 being a thing now, is there a requirement for the cameras themselves to support the standard, or do they just output a signal and the DVR handles the compression (I imagine the latter).
Because it's not my equipment or saleWhy not just post here for everyone to benefit?
My Hikvision DVR arrived.
So far so good, but struggling to find a way to record 24x7 but highlight alarms / alerts for motion detection.
I have motion detection turned on and all that, but the recording schedule seems to support continuous recording or alarm recording only over a particular time frame, not both.
Basically I want 24x7 recording but I want to be able to see when alarms have been triggered. Anyone know how?
If you connect a screen to the DVR itself you have more options than the browser interface gives you.I have that. I have continuous and event / motion, but I want to record 24x7 (continuous) but be able to search for motion / events at any time.
1) I don't yet trust the motion detection 100% and 2) I want to be able to see stuff that won't trigger detection (e.g. I left the garage door open) and 3) I want to be able to jump to an event rather than spend 30 minutes or more looking for it.
Right now that schedule let's me specify one or the other... 24x7 recording or motion.
I have an ancient system that records 24x7 but journals motion events in a log and when you search for footage, you can look for events and play back from those events.
Also, is there desktop software or do you do everything in the browser remotely? If yes, what is it called? Thanks!
