Hi Folks,

What headset do people generally recommend for a gaming headset, I need something with noise cancellation and a decent mic as the Foxxray set I bought apparently doesn't pick up my deep voice very well according to friends. The sound isn't bad and they're relatively comfortable, but I can still hear people talking in the next room through them while playing which is distracting. I am hoping there is something decent which isn't ridiculously expensive, it doesn't need to be wireless/bluetooth either as my tower sits right next to me in elbow range. I'm not fussed about brand either, I just want something that works.

If it makes a difference, recently got back into WoW so something that works well for raid communication in Discord would be an advantage.

Thanks in advance
WB

I have heard a lot of people recommend Sennheiser, touching the max of my limit I'm willing to spend though. But if push comes to shove and I can't find anything else decent under that price, I now have it bookmarked. Thanks!

I would personally recommend the Sennheiser Game Zero, it's reasonably priced if you get it on Amazon. Very good sound for gaming and listening to music, also very comfortable.

I've used the Game One (same headset except open back instead of closed) daily for the last five years and even though its pretty beaten up by now it still works fine.

The mic is decent for this price point but it's a bit quiet so you have to turn the gain up in Windows, although I don't know if they maybe made improvements to the mic when they partnered with Epos because I still have the original one.

Obviously I'm not sure how good the noise cancelling is because I have the open back version. I would have probably recommended something newer like the PC38X but it doesn't seem like they have a closed back equivalent for noise cancelling.

IMO stay the hell away from "gaming" anything, for the same price of mid-range gaming headset you can buy a pair HD599s etc that'll last you forever and absolutely dunks on cheaply made gaming crap, not even remotely a contest.

If I'd be forced to go with a "gaming" headset that Sennheiser should be decent and not e-waste like Razer etc.

Another well-loved affordable gaming audio brand is HyperX, but I don't think you'll find it in South Africa because distributors here are addicted to selling cheap plastic kak at nice thick markups.

Here you go, you can get these for under R2k including taxes and fastest delivery and give it a week to arrive (normally faster than most of the local companies which is hillarious).

I'm hoping under the R3k mark, closest thing I have to a first born is my nephew and my sister is rather attached to him so...

Thank one and all for all your advice, I have ordered the Sennheiser GSP 302, just waiting for delivery now

Have a set of Sennheiser Momentum 4's (Not cost effective) that I normally use for gaming or when I work in the factory. They replaced my old PXC 550's

Will always recommend Sennheiser.

Owning the game zero myself, I won't recommend it. The mic boom snapped, the screws came loose, the pleather wore out and eventually split and there's no spares to be found. And I treat my stuff well.

Oh and the impedance on the headset required me to buy a separate soundcard.

My HD570s on the other hand have lasted years. So yeah, stay away from their gaming headsets. Maybe a headset and separate microphone setup?
