Decent Gas Braai Prices?

Good day ppl.

The missus and I live in a 2nd floor flat with a patio. We have a kettle braai that we like to fire up every now and then but the smoke from the charcoal when it burns in can be quite a problem. So we've decided to get a gas braai - maybe one of those smaller sized ones. Lets just say that I was astonished at the prices. A small, 3 flame gas braai from Weber or Cadac goes for 3 500 bucks! wtf?

Surely there must be a retailer or manufacturer out there, that has prices more decent than that? Any help?
 
Gumtree and Junkmail often have gas braais for sale that have only been used once or twice. Check them out for some bargains.
 
if you looking for a brand name like cadac or weber you gonna pay , maybe jsut check at the makro , they had those camp master ones i think around R1500 for a 3 or 4 burner
 
The little Weber-Q series (at least I think that's what they are) are worth every penny. I've had one for almost 10 years now and we use it all the time - perfect for those days you get home and and just want something quick.
 
Check out the "Chad o chef" brand. They manufacture locally and we have used ours a lot in the past 6 years and it is still going strong. We where braaing weekly fora long time and eventually one of the burners wore out but due to the company being local spare parts where easy to get and cheap. Plan on using ours again tonight.
 
As mentioned if you want a brand name you looking at between 3000 - 6000 for a decent one. Checkers and PnP do have a house brand they sell, but I am not sure its worth going that route as I doubt they will last long. My personal feeling is rather save and buy a decent one, look into the Outback brand, I have one and it is pretty sweet. The Cadacs and Webers are overpriced IMO. Also have a look at Makro, they sell Alva which I believe is South African, might be wrong, but they often have some really decent deals on those.
 
if you're looking to save cash then a skottel braai and tank is the way to go.
 
The checkers bushbaby brand is not bad at all, I haven't bought a gas oven but potjie pots we bought 10 years ago are still going strong. I guess it's how you care for it and the gas braai's they sell are very reasonably priced. I've seen the smallish gas braai suitable for a flat balcony go for about R600 odd.

I got one too - problem is it's a bit of a mission to clean every time you use it...
