Hi Guys

What do you use for your home wifi networks ? Trying to get a feel for brands, I have used Ubiquiti for our office and from time to time I had to reboot these devices because the latency would shoot up on them. Currently have cisco 2702 aironets and 2 controllers at the office but those are very expensive however they work great!

Network needs are:
Streaming video (Show max and will be getting netflix soon)
General internet browsing etc
Torrenting
I need coverage for the upstairs and downstairs of the house

I was looking at getting TP Link ap's but not sure about their performance.....

I bought this kit:

TP-LINK 300MBPS AV500 WIFI POWERLINE EXTENDER STARTER KIT [TL-WPA4220K]

Yes I know its not an access point but its crazy easy to set up and no cables need to be run anywhere - Small one goes next to the router and the larger one on the other side of the house.

My wireless network now covers my entire 1004 m2 property with 12 wireless devices and 3 wired devices connected. Devices seamlessly switch between APs and there's enough bandwidth to stream HD netflix and 1080 movies from media server.

If running ethernet to the access point is not an issue for you yes TP link is generally a good make thats good value for money.

Keep in mind though that if your primary router has a slow processor (most under R1000) it may just not be able to keep up if you have to many devices. If thats the case you may be better of buying a high-end router instead e.g. http://www.dbg.co.za/product_info.php?cPath=55_56_166&products_id=1084

I use two Ubiquiti's at home - since updating them to the latest firmware they have been rock solid.

Streaming video via Plex to:

Roku
Macbook
PS3
iPad

Very happy.
