Hi All,

My wifes opel Astra H 2007 1.4 is having intermittent starting issues. It doesnt swing and after a bit it then starts with no issues. The car is 7 years with only 58000 on clock. Regularly serviced. Last mechanic ran meter and found no faults. I need to sort this out..last thing for her and my baby son to be stranded. Any decent mechs in Midrand?

Hi Bionic,

My boet runs a shop in Centurion. He read this with me and mentioned that the GMs from that time had bad fuel pump valves. The fuel is running back into the tank and takes a while to get back into the injection head, thus the "It doesnt swing and after a bit it then starts with no issues." It's a difficult fault to pickup if you don't have the experience.
Run it by him or have the seals on the pump checked out.

Good luck

Hi bud - A little bit information for him. Okay,so it starts but it switches off immediately even if you pump gas. If you turn the key again, then no go and not even lights on dash. We have to then reinsert the key and then start. We sometimes have to try this process about 2-3 times until we have a successful start. This probably happens about 3 times a week. Thanks
