Hi Guys,

I'm debating which phone to get on contract. So I want to spend less than R399 per month. Have at least 50min and 500mb.

So my options are the following:
  • P8 for R399
  • LG G4 for R399
  • LG G3 for R299
  • Galaxy s5 for R399

They all form Telkom mobile and come with either 100min/1gb or 50min/500mb

To be the G3 seems like a good option at that price but still not sure, rumor has it that the screen is susceptible to breaking and scratching.

The G3 is a bit weak to push all that screen (hardware VS resolution), although battery is better than the G4 (10 hours better on GSMArena). Both only use Gorilla Glass 3 so you better protect them (back cover to raise the edge of the front of the phone over the screen and to protect those eternally fragile corners. + tempered glass screen protector)

You may also want to have a look at the P8 Lite since it may be a more comfortable fit for the budget?

nothing wrong with the G3.
Phone of the year 2014. will kick a s5 in its ....

Wife got a G4 last week, I am impressed to say the least.

Is the G3 fragile?

Any smartphone is aside from perhaps the Active series from Samsung. And it certainly doesn't take some of the extra measures the others do to protect itself like dust or water-proofing or additional corner reinforcing (well at least the latest Xperias had done that) and as it's older it only has Gorilla Glass 3, not 4, but the G4 still only uses that.

Out of those I'd take them in this order:

G4, P8, S5, then G3.

If you're on a budget why not just grab the Z3?

From your list I would choose the Note 5. But do consider the Note 4. Although now dated, it's still a solid device. Versatile, good specs and handles a reasonable day's work quite nicely.

The G4 was launched 5 months ago?
