I wonder if anyone else has this problem and if there's a fix? Increasingly, my DSD1110 decoder has trouble validating the subscriber, leaving me with a blank screen (other than the demo channel no. 100) for huge amounts of time -- and sometimes even for an entire evening. Rebooting does not help, even when done frequently, nor does removing the power, removing the card, complete rescans and similar tricks.

The decoder is never left on standby because I run on solar power through an inverter, and I boot up afresh each evening. It has worked well for years, but this is a fairly recent phenomenon. Calling DSTV does not help, and I'm reluctant to pay money for a repair for a problem they may not actually be able to exhibit. Any ideas?

If someone knows a resolution to this problem please post. I have an old DSD990 that does the same thing. In the past I used it for Dstv Compact, but one day it just said Checking Smart Card May Take 2 Minutes on all the activated channels and never went on to get past that point. This made me cancel Dstv. Best thing that ever happened :D. But still want to know what the problem was.
