Hi

According to http://www.cipro.co.za/news_events/Notices.asp, a South African Company Registration number contains 2 digits (the last two in the sequence YYYY/NNNNNNN/NN) that specified the type of company it's for, i.e. Sole Proprietor, CK/CC, Private company etc. Does anyone have a list with all the types and their NN values?

Can anybody tell me what 06 would be for? Public Company perhaps?

06 Public Company
07 Pty Ltd.
08 Non profit
21 Incorporations
23 CC
30 SOC

I think 06 doesn't exist anymore as Transnet and Eskom have been converted to 30.

06 still exists, for all public companies that are not State owned.

More to what was mentioned above...

06 PUBLIC COMPANY
07 PRIVATE COMPANY
08 ARTICLE 21
09 LIMITED BY GUARANTEE
10 EXTERNAL COMPANY
12 EXTERNAL COMPANY UNDER SECTION 21A
21 INC
22 UNLIMITED
23 CLOSE CORPORATION
24 PRIMARY COOPERATIVE
25 SECONDARY COOPERATIVE
26 TERTIARY COOPERATIVE
30 STATE OWNED COMPANY (SOC LTD)
31 STATUTORY BODY

Good morning, I've recently just registered a company, kindly assist what does the first letter on the registration number stand for?

Are you referring to the very first number? Which given the time of your post, should be "2"? In which case, that refers to the millennium of incorporation, as per the first post in this thread, or the (now archived) CIPC post:

anyone have a regex for validating the format?
As per this circular, the format is YYYY/NNNNNN/NN, so a simple regex could be:

/\d{4}\/\d{6}\/\d{2}/

You could make it fancier by incorporating some check for valid years (I'm assuming they started after 1900 and will continue in perpetuity), like so:

/(19|2[0-9])\d{2}\/\d{6}\/\d{2}/

You could of course get even fancier by setting limits to what the last two digits can be, but as I don't have an official full list, I'll leave it at that.

Thanks so much! ... to everyone for their help.

I need this list, but indicating the new format with the leading alpha, e.g. type 21 has a K in front. And I think the 07 has an M. And that's all I've got.

Cheers.

I am not sure if am in the same as you
I need to open a bank account but the registration format is asking for 12 digits where as I only have 11 and enterprise number begin with K2.

I really need some help.

Try padding the digit after the yyyy with a zero,
so if your struggling with a 2017/12345/21 (K201712345) (if it's a K, I dunno) then try K2017012345 or 2017/012345/21

Hi Bud yes I eventually got it the way you explained it. Thank you for your reply.
