Hey

Looking at getting this for my home network to run Opnsense and Pi hole and maybe fiddle with Home Assistant. I have a lot of devices including IOT that I want to track better. My line is 50Mbps. Looking at the N5105 model (low power consumption advantage). Are there any better recommendations than this?

I was looking at similar ones to this and also the lenovo tinys. The problem is that I'll have to use a usb nic.
You can VLAN away your different connections if you have a managed switch, as long as you're happy with the bandwidth from a single network port.

I saw that but I'm not good with networking so I'd rather keep it stand alone and simple.

Ordered the N5105 device which should be delivered shortly. Will load Proxmox or something and report back.

Got the device in about a month after ordering. Managed to load Proxmox and bridged an inward port and outward port for OPNsense. It works well except that load shedding is back and I have no internet when the power is off. I've used a Mikrotik to do the fiber dial up.

Can't figure out a way to bypass it and keep the network alive with internet. The other routers and AP's stay up during load shedding.

With this current bout of loadshedding, I've discovered that the box actually runs on 12v and I'm using it with my Gizzu router backup. I've been testing since yesterday and it seems to work fine. The wattage from my watt-meter is from 10w to 13w but mostly at 10w which means it draws on average 0.83 amps.
