Hi all

My house is under offer, pending finance. I want to plan my resignation at work to coincide with when the house registers. Anyone have any experience on how quickly transfers are taking place currently ? I'm in Gauteng.

Thanks!

I moved my bond en March. Was finalised end July. Deeds office closed every time somebody sneezed. Obviously things are a bit more relaxed now.

Dr Kevorkian? Welcome back, I guess - what's with all the upheavals? What are you up to?

From what I've heard it's more or less like a figure 8 ... on its side.

Ive heard its about 3-4 months turnaround time from when the offer is signed.
So the same experience as hamster had

From when finance is approved it takes 60 days(2 months) or less if everything goes right.

You should stipulate when you want the house to register and who is going to be responsible for occupational rent now.

Only because attorneys and estate agents are lazy. Set a date that should spead things up.

Lodgement to registration. (Deeds office(government)) part of the process is 10 days.

Closing due to Carona might affect this.

I think there's a few things at play at the moment, especially considering the office was closed for 3 months...

In terms of the deeds office, Cape town has been affected the most. Joburg did not have severe downtime recently - a day a week, usually on a Friday or Monday during level 3 lol.

This is what my transfer attorney told me last week.

It all depends if its a bond or cash buy.

Cash buys would be within 8 weeks after signing the OTP. Gauteng experience currently

I am waiting since March 2020, the attorneys keep saying Gauteng Deeds office closed due to Coronavirus case.

Heard the COJ offices got damaged by a fire (server room damage) of some sort.

Assume it could delay registrations
