Defy 12000BTU Portable Aircon Shaking problem

I have a Defy 12 000BTU Portable aircon, when i take it camping with us, and the weather is very hot, like 36 degrees celcius, the machine starts to shake and shudder and then the cold air turns to hot, it then takes several minutes before the cold air comes out again. Could this be happening because of the hot temperature, or could it be that the electricity is not enough at a camp site? It works find during the evening, no problem, just during the day we have these issues. I have cleaned the filters.

I have one of those but it's a Samsung, It could be that it has a relay thing protection switch like that switches the compressor on or off as required, I can't explain the shaking and shuddering, mine rattles a lot but not shaking and the air is always cold when on aircon mode.

Hi thechamp... thanks for your comment, I am wondering if the air outside is so hot that it just cant handle it and that is why it kind of switches off and then has to restart... just seems strange.
