Delay in Recording sound

Hi...

I'm experiencing a short delay in my line-in / mic-in inputs when for example using my electric guitar or a mic... I want a direct sound like playing through a mixer amp, or similiar.

I'm using the following for my recording / amplification:
SOUND CARD: 8-channel (7.1) audio subsystem using the SigmaTel STAC9271D audio codec and
Dolby* Home Theater certification

MOTHERBOARD: Intel® Desktop Board DG965MQ

I'm downloading updated drivers at the moment which I will try...

you need an asio capable card to do that.

failing that, you get an asio filter for windows xp/vista which should correct most problems.

you need this is you are going to have any hope of playing electric guitar without the delay.
