I need some help please. Wifey bouggt her dad a 240gb SSD.

I want to clone ONLY the OS from the current HDD to the SSD.

1. Is this possible with Macrium Reflect because I have used it before but to clone a complete drive and not just the OS?

2. If possible and after doing it can I delete ONLY the OS on the HDD and if I dont will it create problems in the future having 2 drives installed withe exact same OS on both?

Many thanks.

If you are wanting to split OS and Apps then you would be better off doing a clean install of Windows. Most apps that are installed under Windows write to the Registry. So you are going to end up with tonnes of useless info in the Registry.

Or

Back up data and delete from the HDD
Clone HDD to SDD (OS + Apps)
Format HDD
Restore data to HDD

Windows 10 saves most user settings to Onedrive if the user has an MS account. Desktop wallpaper, icons, My Documents etc.
Just install the OS from scratch on the new drive, and keep the stuff on the old one in case something goes missing. Mabye move the Windows, Program Files and User Data folders on the old drive into a backup folder so no-one gets confused.

Once he logs in for the first time, almost everything should be where he expects it to be.
