Dell 2450 server NIC wont pick up

Hi Guys, i am using a old dell 2450 at my office, and cant get the NIC to work. it shows that its there but not installed. if i run the ifconfig command.

i'am running ubuntu server 8. and also noticed that this intel NIC has no linux based driver.

Do i use the built in e100 driver? please direct me into something solid.

P.s also tried a PCI NIC , with no luck

Please post output of "lspci", "lsmod" and "ifconfig -a".

Does it have an integrated Intel PRO/100+ and Broadcom Gigabit like the 2550?
