I sure hope that someone out there can help.

Symptom.
Vodafone connect does not request the PIN number for the SIM card when either plugging in the datacard or rebooting the laptop with the card plugged in. The only way to get it to work is to pull the card out, start the Vodafone profile manager and insert the card once prompted.

I have installed this card in an ACER Travelmate and it works 100%.

I have been through the upgrade driver and BIOS routine with no joy.

Assistance would be appreciated as this is extremely frustrating.

Diable the pin number?

Do you really need the pin number? Why don't you just disable it with a cellphone and not worry about it any more?

Its not as if the data card will be lost in a nightclub ... or do you use the same SIM for your phone and datacard?
