can anyone tell me where i can find a charger adapter for my dell laptop around the durban area. mine was resntly stolen from my bag and the IT department at work says the adapters cost about R650.

Im not prepared to cough up that much cash for a charger.

So if anyone has any contacts who can help me out around the durban area i would glandly apppreciate it,

Geesh - seems like there's a black market for these things - I've been asked exactly the same thing twice already by different people with the same problem... Only place is directly from Dell then guard it with your life...

,

hehe, you wont be coughing up that much cash for a charger...be optimistic..

you will be coughing up that much cash for a working laptop!!!! it's cheap in comparison.

anyway, laptop chargers are pretty generic, it is just normally the end plugs that tend to be a bit oem-specific. If yours is a standard barrel plug, just find something that has the same dimensions (inner and outer diameter) and buy *any* laptop charger matching or exceeding the original specs (laptops tend to be 20v, 3-4amps, 60-80watts depending on whether you pack a p4, centrino or amd, but check with dell to be sure) and hack it together yourself. Center pin positive normally. I know in the uk you can get generic laptop ac/dc for around £20 that come with different interchangeable ends that you just plug in, so all the common sizes are shapes are catered for

sori dude, id rather not take the risk of crossing and mending wires myself, the laptop belongs to my workplace (its a dell make, 2,8ghz P4, 512mb ram) no wireless fancy stuff

there are only two wires...+ and -.

Sorry if this confuses you.

ive alredy lost one expensive work laptop b4. ill get fired for sure if i come into the office with a roasted laptop.
