Dell Laptop Keyboard error (Fn Responds only)

I was cleaning the keyboard with Windows 7 on the lock screen. Now my keybaord is not responding - alphanumeric, numbers and navigation are not working nor the F1-F12. But the fn combinations on the Function keys as well as the fn brightness function on the arrow keys are working.

Anyone know how to reset the keyboard? Onscreen keyboard shows no other keys are sticky. I want to avoid a reboot as I have a dozen tabs on reddit (Chrome and Opera) that I will lose thread position on browser refresh.

use an external keyboard via USB in the interim.

If you kill the power by removing battery & mains chrome should restore the tabs next time.

Rebooting fixed the keyboard issue but as mentioned in the restored tabs the pages refreshes and I get updated content which I did not want. On the juicy reddit threads it goes back to the top 200 comments when I might have previously expanded 70% or more of 3000 plus posts.
