Hi guys.

My laptop got stolen 2 weeks ago and the insurance is replacing my D620 Dell with a Dell Vostro 1015.. Specs seem to be similar.

Was just wondering if anyone know if the Vostro or the Inspiron is the replacement for the latitude ?

Thanks

Vostro is dells new cheapie range, utter crap really.

THere latitude and inspiron range are more expensive, but actually are good products

Thanks guys, so how can i see what the replacement for a D620 should be ?

Have you actually used one? Seen one? I have two Vostros, 1220 with a 12" screen and they are truly fantastic. Excellent build quality and parts. I've used the 1015 Vostro briefly. It looks very similar to the Latitude E6500 that I also have, but without the fancy materials (like an all-plastic version of E6500). Latitude has additional enterprise-ready features (primarily asset management, security, etc.) which Vostro line does not.

Okay so the Vostro is a private / small business laptop with no frills while a Latitude is a more advanced business focussed laptop with better materials.

I was looking online now and found a Sony Vaio NW-23 which seems to have similar specs and seems to be in the same price range.

What is the best brand / model in the R6 000 - R8 000 price range.

Thanks

The replacement for the D620 is the Latitude E6400. D820/D830 is the E6500. You now also get the E6410 and E6510 which have the new core i5/i7 processors in.
