Just throwing a thought out to see if it holds any relevance and it's not necessartily limited to Dell's but maybe any SFF pc.

So I've been having intermittent connectivity issue between the Dell and my ANT+ / BT devices. Generally speaking the BT doesn't even connect at all and when it fails I can hear the chime when a device normally disconnects and then reconnects.

The ANT+ connects and data does come through but at random times, sometimes seconds but also minutes, the device drops out and then connects again. The SFF has the following additionals plugged into the USB slots (Wireless KB / Wifi Dongle).

At first I thought it was interference so I got a 5m USB extender and put the ANT+ right next to the connecting device... no resolve.

As a last result I put the dongle into my gaming machine and surprisingly not a single hiccup. I even used the same USB extender to extend the dongle right next to the SFF to similate it being in the same position... again not a single hiccup.

After some head scratching, the only conclusion I can think of is a power issue to the dongle from the SFF. Perhaps the USB controller is overloaded with the additional devices? (I still need to test this theory but gotta get a wired connection installed for the machine then).

Thoughts?

USB issues do not directly correlate to the Dell being SFF...

To make that claim, you would need a massive sample size..

Download and install the Intel (motherboard) Chipset Drivers from the Dell downloads website. A corrupted chipset driver could be the problem and it's at least worth a try - or try this as well...

DELL Diagnostics & Tools

Run a quick test or identify your product to see more diagnostic options.

In the past I resolved a similar issue by using the back USB port which is soldered directly onto the MB instead of the front USB port which connect to the MB via a wired connector.

I'll give it another go but I'm sure I did do this.

Used the windows troubleshooter which didn't pick up anything but will definitely give the dell test a go and update the chipset.

Last time I had intermittent USB connection problems I cleaned out the ports with an earbud and some isopropyl alcohol. The problems stopped.

So ran a quick driver check, some critical updates to BIOS and Chipset. Downloaded and installed. Also moved the ANT+ device to the rear port and still nada. Full diagnostic reported nothing of interest.

Video of what is happening. https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMMyrp93p/

It's the weirdest thing because it works flawlessly plugged into my main desktop
