The M4300, which is ugly as only Dell can build ugly, is also pure grunt. The review unit we looked at packed in a flaming-fast 64-bit Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 4 GB of RAM, a 160 GB hard drive and high-end Nvidia Quadro graphics.

You know the Chuck Norris "facts": Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one bird; Chuck Norris destroyed the periodic table because he only recognises the element of surprise; there is no "Ctrl" button on Chuck Norris's computer because he is always in control. Well, if Chuck Norris had a computer, it would probably be the new Dell Precision M4300.

The review unit we looked at packed in a flaming-fast 64-bit Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 4 GB of RAM, a 160 GB hard drive and high-end Nvidia Quadro graphics. The machine, which weighs just 2,85 kg, impressive for a computer this size, has a generous 1 920 x 1 200-pixel wide-screen display.

Then there's the machine's support for 802.11n, the latest and greatest version of Wi-Fi wireless networking that allows data transfers of up to 248 Mbit/s - you and I would likely never see that sort of performance but Chuck would demand nothing less.

So, if it's a workstation replacement laptop that you need, you can't go too wrong with the M4300. It even has a "Ctrl" button two, in fact. Just don't expect people to accuse you of having any style.
