Help or the end of PC gaming except SC3.

Years and years I don’t buy a game for the PC. Don’t game that much you know… but you look in on the scene from time to time, waiting for SC3 or whatever. Okay, I bought Braid but that’s different.
Walking through the mall I see the game shop, sniff around and think, hell, this Demigod game sounds like my Darjeeling perfect cup of tea. R350 pops and off I go.

Install… nothing.
Read manual. Download drivers for graphics card and sound card.
Nothing.
Re-install… nothing.
Re-install to different drive… nothing.
Read all the forums on the Demigod website… useless.

And you know why I was walking around the mall… because the only game I have really played over the last 8 years is Soul Calibur 1 and 2, and I thought, well, R4500 for a Xbox, an extra console and Soul Calibur is not that expensive considering it’s all I play (with a friend, I believe we are the world’s best Soul Calibur 1 players… clocked 1000s of hours it’s shameful). But I saw this and thought, “that would be cool, and R4150 cheaper that the other option)

Anyway, I’ve emailed Stardock, but thought to ask locally too… I here provide my computer setup. Nothing amazing, but the Demigod requirements said it was not very heavy, so.

Dell Laptop Core 2 Duo 2.4Ghz T7700
4 gigs of ram
60 gigs of free space on hard drive
Nvidia 8600M GT
Sigmatel audio device.

I’ve also tried the following:
1. Installed the game on c:/program_files/stardock/demigod
2. Installed the game on c:/stardock/demigod
3. Updated both my audio and graphics drivers
4. Installed game again.
5. Read manual
6. Closed firewall and virus program.
7. Checked Demigod forums. No help.

So, I ask for any help regarding this... and if not, well I'll fork out the cash for option 2. Thanks in advance for any suggestions regarding this.

You do not mention anything about installing Impulse, which is the Stardock equivalent of Steam, did you?

Nothing = a few secs of the microsoft hourglass loading icon, and then nothing... no load or anything.

Impulse = installed

Update = yes, done.

Still nothing...

Depending on your OS, have you tried running it with compatibility mode for XP /w SP2 if you have Vista installed ?

Just a thought from my side.

:)

Make sure you have service pack's installed on your machine, preferably up to SP3 if on Win XP and make sure you have done all the windows updates.

Also make sure you have the latest .Net framework installed. This could cause drama.

Finally a sleuth in the pack... from the demigod forums (disable Google Desktop)

and voila!

Game works.

Lol that was it? Google desktop? good lord....

@Keeper - its is like DOTA, and its ok, but personally they just trying to hard.

Its almost to much. It will never take over DOTA for me, you can't replicate DOTA unfortunately. You should try it out though, maybe you will enjoy it.
