Does anyone know how apply to Denel? Is it a great place to work?

Their company site requires you to submit your CV to HR but the email doesn't go through. I don't know of any recruitment agencies that deal with Denel.
Or do you have to have a "contact" who works there to "organise" a position for you (like in almost every other company)?

most big state owned companies are like that, dont advertise regularly enough,

and especially a state owned, where jobs are given to pals and friends as much as possible!

think of it like working at Home affairs, or new age newspaper.

Thanks for the responses.
I was looking at Denel Land Systems. Someone from my old company went there but I can't get into contact with him.
Part of the reason that I want to work there is that they do firmware development and system integration (at least I've been told), and that is in my area of expertise. Plus military technology always seems to be cutting edge.

Long story short: I used to be a senior software engineer. I was really good at my job. Got retrenched. Now I'm working developer jobs. I just want to put my experience to use and try to resurrect my career.

Any suggestions on which companies to target? What sort of process do you follow to even apply to work in another country?
I tried applying, after I was retrenched, to companies that required my skills. But their recruitment sites didn't yield anything positive.

Why not look outside the country then?

This is very solid advise. High level software engineers and programmers are in high demand, and get paid really well in first world countries.

It's difficult to say. If you are not getting responses, then maybe you need to update the languages you can code in? There are quite a few reasons. I have a few friends who were contacted based on the strength of their LinkedIn profiles. I would suggest updating your CVs into a more modern format if you have not done so yet and start networking on sites like LinkedIn. Also, list the projects you have worked on (insofar as any NDAs allow you).
