NO not the same thing. Many dentists call themselves oral/dental surgeons as they can and are allowed to do oral surgeries depending what they may be. Because of that reason it is important to be specific. Someone who has qualified as a maxillo facial surgeon has a MUCH larger scope of procedures that can be performed
That said what is it that the OP wants to have done...?

hehe thanks for the info. I need 4 teeth extracted but it's not that simple. 2 are really bad and are basically at the same level as the end of the gums. So they will have to cut the gums to be able to dig them out. Sounds ouch already and that's why I wan't to be put under
