Dentist appointment cost

What's the average cost of going to the dentist for a check up(first time going)? Nothing serious, I just want them to check if everything is okay in there, and if not then I'll make other appointments.

I'll be paying cash, no medical aid.

You should ask them to a checkup and a scale and polish. Shouldn't cost more than R700 altogether.

Depends if they take xrays, only way to check if you have holes between the teeth.

White fillings are around twice the cost of silver ones and only last around 5yrs if it's a big filling in a heavy use tooth like a molar, if it's a tooth largely out of sight then I'd go silver. Silver can last for decades, my last white filling lasted 5yrs before cracking and there's only so many times a filling can be replaced before the structure of the tooth is compromised.
