So I was at an event last night drank a bit; not too much but quite a bit. Afterwards going home and then today as well I feel depressed and sad, also like I am a failure and everything I do is wrong/stupid.

This isn't a hangover feeling, it's an emotional one, and then I thought to myself this happens most times when I drink to the point of becoming drunkish.

Anyone else?

Dronkverdriet... it's not unusual. ;) Seemingly it's only us Dutchies that drink enough to have come up with an all-encompassing word for it though. Alcohol screws with your central nervous system; the more you ingest, the less pleasant the effects and after-effects.

In short, drink less... or maybe look at investing in some Proheb before your next binge.

Alcohol lowers the serotonin level in your brain. Takes a few days to recover.

Btw, save some money and buy Vitamin B rather, that's all Prohep is anyway.

There is a simple fix for your problem. Don't DRINK. I know its so simple that you never thought of it :p.

On a serious note the feelings that you have about being a failure needs professional attention. Go see a therapist & find out why you feel this way. Depression is a serious condition & should not be taken lightly.

Good luck with the "dronkverdriet" I personally make sure I drink myself well past my aunty & fill up with lots of fluids during the night & wake up refreshed every time :D

No it's not all the time, only for a day or two. it isn't pleasant though.

Show me a drug that escapes relativity, and thus, doesn't re-frame normality and reality as completely fkn dull after a high, and I will show you the money.

I prefer people getting dronkverdriet rather than drunken happiness, where they all giggel soos vroumense.

no worries Pooky, i feel like a failure every day of my life despite my personal success

exactly the reason I stopped drinking alcohol ...

yeah it is boring as hell - but being drunk doesn't do it for me anymore

Yes pooky woopsy wapsie worsie.....its called dronk verdriet. It happens to a lot of people. I am not a hectic drinker...but when the mood strikes me and I empty a bottle of wine by myself, I often get extremely sad and sommer burst into snot and trane.

Nothing to worry about I would say...but if this is a regular thing...perhaps scale down or stop drinking. It obviously does not react well with your synapses lol.

You all got it wrong Dronkverdriet is something you get while drunk not the next day. Pooky the reason you feel this way the next day is because everyone put up walls in their everyday life and when you drink a bit they come of you can be more yourself. Then the next day those walls come back again and it causes anxiety that's why you feel like a failure and so forth.
