I'm no fan of CDL but if Shabby can get released on medical grounds for high blood pressure , what justification is there in not releasing CDL on medical parole ?
Chris Hani's killer Clive Derby-Lewis has been diagnosed with cancer and is also at risk of losing his leg to gangrene.
On Tuesday, Derby-Lewis won an urgent court order to be admitted to a private hospital after he apparently injured his leg falling over a bed frame. After three weeks of not receiving medical treatment, he turned to the North Gauteng High Court and was taken to an undisclosed hospital.
His lawyer Marius Coertze said he received more bad news than he expected.
"He has quite severe skin cancer on the face; he also has very high blood pressure and he also has gangrene in the leg," said Coertze.
Derby-Lewis will remain in hospital for the time being. He is busy campaigning for parole and it remains to be seen whether his medical condition will affect the process.
