Designing One's Own CCS Templates

Hello,

So I am studying Dreamweaver and the lecturer is talking about there are templates to choose from or alternatively you can create your own css design/template. What I am curious to know is, would other Web Designers be able to copy my design should I be developing my own kind of templates/styles?

Is there some kind of copyright on each particular design or can every designer/web developer copy as they wish from all kinds of sources?

css = cascading style sheet.
i don't really know what you're asking here...
are you a designer or developer?
 
CSS is plain text - it can and (if it is good) will be copied. That's the nature of the beast. There are copyrights, but they are generally difficult to follow up on.

It's also one of the best ways to learn, by the way. View Source whenever you find something you like. A word of advice though - copy, but never plagiarise. ;)

You cannot copyright styles IMO and besides you'd have to write some incredible code first that everybody wants. There are some incredible coders out there. A design on the other hand is a little more tricky. People copy ideas and structures all the time.. as Raithlin advises though, copy a little here and there but pure plagiarism is bad form.
 
Like others have said, CSS is just plain text. On its own, you can't do much with it. I think the copyright issue is the same with any designs - adverts, magazine layouts, paintings... Other designers will be inspired by your work and copy or replicate it to some degree. The trick is to always be on top of your game and top your last work each time. That way, you'll lead the way and others will always be copying you. Innovation is the key. ;)

Yes, yes they can. It's also crucial to steal any cool bit of js you come across.

and then put it online in order for others to contribute - give back and it will come back to you.
seriously, the web would be a different place without things like jquery.
 
Rule of thumb when stealing code or content or whatever. Steal from 1 source = plagiarizm. Steal from multiple sources = research.
