Desktop build for 5k

Hi guys please give me an idea of hardware for a desktop build - must work out to 5k - it will be for office/email/normal type stuff.

I don't need a screen or speakers etc. Just the casing,cpu,mboard,ram,psu,gpu etc. Chassis and all that goes in it.

2 gig memory
cheapest mobo your can find maybe something like 500 bucks, look for a cheap gigabyte or asus very solid mobo's for office use.
I would imagine onboard graphics would be fine for a desktop, don't see the need for a GPU if its for basic office kuk.
Buy a chasis with a 300w poer supply in already.

Well there are a number of combos you could get, I am assuming 'Normal type stuff' doesn't include gaming, so you could potentially get away with using onboard Gfx which at the end of the day leaves you a few bob extra to use on a decent Mobo, some extra RAM and a decent CPU.

You could also get a medium spec Gfx card in case you decide you want to play some games at a later stage.

CPT, have access to Rectron + Sahara.

Don't have the quote I worked out in front of me but I did have a cheapie gybyte mboard, 2gig ddr800, 400gig samsunga hdd, e8300 or some such for cpu, cheap gbyte case with gbyte 360w psu, liteon dvd writer and a ****ty 8400gs as the cheap boards didnt seem to come with onboard - was for some reason cheaper with the ****ty 8400gs when I skimmed through the pricelist...

So that's a 2.1Ghz tri core cpu with 2gigs ram, a board with 4sata ports, a 320gig seagate drive, benq dvdwriter and a DDR3 256mb 3650 gfx card.

R3750 for a very decent office machine.
 
May i ask why a desktop pc would need a 800 rand box and why would a desktop pc need a 1.3k cpu? Email,internet and office work does not need something this large if you ask me.

Brawler those specs look great for a desktop pc man, perfect for daily office chores plus photoshop,corel draw etc would run well.

Maybe get 2x2gigs of ram, even if you are going to use 32bit OS and a better power supply to be able to upgrade in the future. I assume you are not an overclocker. :D

It doesn't. He said he had a 5grand budget. So I just went for bang for buck. Something he wouldn't need to upgrade too soon. Almost everyone of these home "work" pcs end up with need for speed and sims2 on anyway.

The cores will also help if they ever wanna run more cpu intensive apps, or just more apps.

My build has a very big bang for buck.
