hi people, i need help with something

I jus got my laptop back from my company, they need to do a few updates and stuff like that.

The problen now is that i cannot change my desktop wallpaper or access the display feature in the control panel. when i try to do this i get a message saying "Your system sdministrator disabled the Display control panel".

So u can imagine how boring it iz having a plain blue disktop and not being able to customize jack

What puzzles me is that my user account is part of the administrators group.

Can anyone please help

It's part of a group policy rule, there's a way to hack the background in the registry but if you work for a large company they usually have strict IT rules that might see you getting a smack on the hand or at worst in a disciplinary hearing if you go 'hacking' the company property.

If your user account has admin privileges, can you set up a guest account for yourself with all the eye candy you want?

Quite simply, stop trying to stuff around with your employer's equipment.

try opening the group policy, start/run type gpedit.msc, if you can gain access to the console then your part of the domain/local admin group, if not your just a user.

Company policies are getting very strict because of users that like to fiddle stuff up the machine and then give it to the IT department to sort out costing them time for something that should not have happened. The solution is to stop users fiddling as much as possible making support easier. Imagine having 1500 pcs to look after and 750 ppl are constantly fiddling and breaking machines kinda ties up the IT department.

if has admin rights on his machine I'm sure he is allowed to use the machine as he pleases, part of IT is also educating users, if you can't find the time then your definately part of the problem for users banging down the door to resolve simple problems.

I dnt fully agree alot of ppl decide to use their work pc's to try stuff friends tell them about even tho its against company policy, because of those ppl this sort of policy gets implemented. He has admin rights to the local machine it seems but not when logged onto the domain.

Bottom line is your employer gives you a pc to use for work purposes as a productivity tool and you should abide by the policies they implement. If you want to play use your own pc.
