Hi

Living in Durban and need advice on buying a desktop for gaming. Budget approx 10K. I know pre-built is crap but I dont know all the specs required.

Thanks in advance

This is a difficult one Burne, you are not giving us a lot to work with and I don't really see a question in your post...

If you want to build your own you need to get the following:
Chassis/Case
Motherboard
Powersupply
Hard Drive
Processor
Memory
Graphics card
Keyboard
Screen
Mouse

If you are looking for certain specs then visit Computersonly.co.za (I think they are situated in Durbs) and browse through there. Make a list of components you are thinking of getting and post it here. People will comment and give you sage advise.

Welcome to the forums BTW.

Add another R 1000 odd for the OS (win 7 home premium), unless he will be running linux but since this is for a gaming rig that is doubtful.

Nice rigs, but I wouldn't call them budget. ;)

LoL!!! :D

Nice setups there for Roughly 7K + the additional R1K for Win7. Just built a similar system for the Mother inlaw (i5) actually almost identical to that, same CPU, & GFX (HIS HD 5770). Just didnt take the case or monitor. My total was just under 7K with Win7. The PC runs lovely! Much better than the old 775 P4 3.2ghz with a useles GeForce 6600 ...
