Desktop or keyboard shortcut to trigger Google Voice Search?

Is there any way to do this on Win 10?
Pita needing to open the browser or new tab, wait till the page loads and then click on the mic icon. I mainly use Firefox but I like using Chrome as a spare browser/Voice search. Looked on Google but couldn't find anything which seems weird, appears it may be possible by running a chrome web app.

If you open google.com in Chrome and then press ctrl+shift+. then voice search opens. Not sure if this is exactly what you want. That's control+shift+dot

Tried that, doesn't appear to work anymore, but isn't the solution I'm looking for, I want to be able to open it from anywhere via a shortcut or keyboard shortcut

It worked for me now. I'm on a Mac using Chrome and the shortcut worked fine. However, I don't know of any other method.

I'm on Windows 10, not working. There must be a way to do this, I'm quite enjoying Voice search, would love to be able to activate a voice search at any moment without needing to deal with the browser

Why do I often seem to be the only one trying to do something, this can't be such a ridiculous expectation?

Indeed it can, something similar is what I want on desktop.
