Desktop Support Technician required in Sandton area
This role is to provide a single point of contact for end users to receive support and maintenance within the organization's desktop computing environment. This includes installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining and upgrading all PC hardware and equipment to ensure optimal workstation performance.
The person will also troubleshoot problem areas (in person, by telephone, or via email) in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end-user assistance where required.

Salary is up to R20,000 depending on skills and experience.

Position Responsibilities
- Monitor and respond quickly and effectively to requests received through the infrastructure helpdesk.
- Monitor for tickets assigned to the queue and process based on priority.
- Modify configurations, utilities, software default settings, etc. for the office workstations.
- Utilize and maintain the helpdesk tracking software.
- Document internal procedures.
- Assist with creating and managing company employee accounts.
- Ensure each workstation has a computer, monitor, keyboard, mouse, hard drive, and any additional specialized equipment.
- Manage PC setup and deployment for new employees using standard hardware, images and software
- Install, test and configure new workstations, peripheral equipment and software.
- Maintain inventory of all equipment, software and software licenses.
- Report issues to the infrastructure team and management for escalation.
- Assign users and computers to proper groups in Active Directory.
- Perform timely workstation hardware and software upgrades as required.
Basic Requirements
- 2 years + experience with help desk support.
- Any infrastructure experience a plus.
