Desktop Support Technician required in Sandton area

This role is to provide a single point of contact for end users to receive support and maintenance within the organization's desktop computing environment. This includes installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining and upgrading all PC hardware and equipment to ensure optimal workstation performance.

The person will also troubleshoot problem areas (in person, by telephone, or via email) in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end-user assistance where required.

Position Responsibilities

  • Monitor and respond quickly and effectively to requests received through the infrastructure helpdesk.
  • Monitor for tickets assigned to the queue and process based on priority.
  • Modify configurations, utilities, software default settings, etc. for the office workstations.
  • Utilize and maintain the helpdesk tracking software.
  • Document internal procedures.
  • Assist with creating and managing company employee accounts.
  • Ensure each workstation has a computer, monitor, keyboard, mouse, hard drive, and any additional specialized equipment.
  • Manage PC setup and deployment for new employees using standard hardware, images and software
  • Install, test and configure new workstations, peripheral equipment and software.
  • Maintain inventory of all equipment, software and software licenses.
  • Report issues to the infrastructure team and management for escalation.
  • Assign users and computers to proper groups in Active Directory.
  • Perform timely workstation hardware and software upgrades as required.

Basic Requirements

  • 2 years + experience with help desk support.
  • Any infrastructure experience a plus.

Salary is up to R20,000 depending on skills and experience.

We offer flexible shifts to cater for traffic, the opportunity to work from home, 20 days annual leave which increases over time and many other benefits.

Application For The Desktop Support Technician

I would like to take this opportunity to thank in advance for taking time to go through my application. Here attached my curriculum vitae to apply for the above position, I’m a proactive, team player, hard work, punctual and dynamic Sales target-focused individual who is deadline driven, bilingual and well groomed, have excellent communication and technically experienced . I have a National High certificate of information security (NQF 6) with UNISA and also a system support (NQF Level 5) which is equivalent to MCSE with Torque IT.

From February 2015 I was on a project as the desktop technician with gijima and fnb until June 2015. I worked at Telkom since 2008 until last year December 2014 as the helpdesk support technician due to turnaround strategy our contracts were not renewed for all the contractors.

I would sincerely appreciate the opportunity of introducing myself to you personally in your consideration.
