Long story ....
Been trying to help a pensioner friend who has had to sell his house and move to a retirement vilage.
At his house he had a Telkom land line and ADSL (NO contract as far as I can work out and all paid up)
SO
Because at the retirement village there is no direct Telkom lines ( they work through a PABX system ) I have been trying to cancel his Telkom land line / ADSl package whilst keeping the email address and mail box ( an R18.00 option )
Went to the Telkom direct shop on Wednesday last week to put this in progress
Telkom lady said land line and ADSL cancelled
Purchased a SIM card so that access can be maintained to still use the Telkom mail box
OK all good and well
Came Saturday and I went to install and setup everything
I had to activate the SIM in my phone first -- and then it worked ok in the LTE router HUAWEI B315
Great got Internet
Tried to access the mail -- put in password supplied by Telkom lady = NADA nothing working
Tried all the OLD passwords -- NADA nothing
GO straight back to Telkom direct shop ( Saturday morning ) -- speak to a different lady , tries all sorts of things -- NO STILL not working promises to try later and contact when working.
NOTHING
GO back to Telkom direct shop again this morning ( THIRD TIME ) fiddle fiddle for about an hour -- Apparently there is now a new system and the "SYSTEM" is not allowing the change -- Telkom already has AI ?
Eventually at 10h30 this morning -- We will contact you later when we have managed to get hold of the mail administrator ( -- still waiting )
HOW can a simple thing like closing a post paid ( you get an account every month ) Telkom land line / ADSL account but retaining the mail box be such an impossible task ????????
PLEASE PLEASE someone explain ( So OFF Telkom lately )
