Hey guys,

New to the forum. I'm about to pull out my hair, but before I do that I thought it might be smart to consult with you all.

Here is my scenario:

I live in a small coastal town, Onrusriver, where my Telkom Exchange only allows for a 2mb ADSL line. I work for a US based company as a Video Editor and so I need to edit a ton of videos and upload that to their respective channels. A 2mb line just wont cut it. We do have a local Wifi Service Provider offering symmetrical ADSL, but it's extremely expensive coming in at R800/mb.

My question is as follows:

I already have a Litebeam M5 antenna and Mikrotik Router installed through the local Wifi ISP. Would I be able to set up an additional antenna on their tower or other current infrastructure and then purchase my internet directly from a reseller, effectively cutting out the middle man? I need a really fast upload speed, and this is probably the best solution that I can think of at the moment. That's why I was thinking that becoming a "reseller" would probably be the best bet, the only catch though is that I will be using it as a dedicated line with zero contention for myself instead of selling it off again.

Please tell me that this is a possibility. I have no other idea what to do. If you maybe have other suggestions, PLEASE throw them my way. The requirements are simple; a minimum of a 4mb symmetrical line that is reliable. I need this up and running asap.

Thank you!!

Hey guys,

You probably do NOT want to hear this

HOW did you think you were going to be able to fulfill your work obligations living in an area without the tools you need for the proper functioning of your business ?
Nothing wrong with the -- plattteland -- just that real broadband is an unknown concept

My suggestion -- move to somewhere where you can get "decent" Internet speeds ......
Any form of wireless connection is going to give you -- in the long term -- nightmares

Otherwise

1.)
Most towns in SA have DIGINET
Now this may not be the best thing since sliced bread
BUT
It is synchronous and can go up to Two Mbs ( note this is a businesses service and is not quite the same as a 2Mb ADSL connection )

2.)
Get yourself multiple ADSL lines and an "Aggregator"

In ANY scenario R800.00 is chump change for what you want and really need
ALL the above solutions are going to be way more than that.

See my first point
IF you want to continue in your current occupation
then

In the end it may just be better to move !
