Hey everyone,

I need some assistance please

I have been battling for a few days now trying to locate my network device.
It is an on board port.
Board is an MSI Z97 Gaming 7
its got killer network (?)

I just cannot seem to pick it up in device manger, the only unknown device is a: Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)

Please any help will be awesome!!!

Oh and the network port has a solid orange light regardless of a cable being plugged in

I'd try reinstalling motherboard drivers, but at this point I'd know in my heart of hearts it was porked.

Also have a MSI Gaming 7.

Not saying it's the case in your situation but my built-in Killer network was fried by lightning last year. Had to buy separate PCI-E network card. And my motherboard showed the same symptoms. Also tried reinstalling drivers; with no luck.

Maybe first try re-installing drivers before going that route. Hopefully it works for you. Luckily network add on cards are fairly cheap.

constant orange light generally means its laughing at you from the afterlife trying to do everything in your power to bring it back to life and failing every single time.. driver reinstall wont fix it.. what may just help, if you are lucky, is an attempt to update the firmware, if its possible with your board and the nic.. since it has an orange light, its powering on and may just have some firmware thats on her period..

is it enabled in bios?

also reset cmos, or try a bios upgrade.

sometimes it helps.
