Hi folks,
For a start, I'm not very tech savvy with regards to what's out there and what the latest releases are in terms of computers, gadgets and the like.

However, is there a device which I can use that does not strain the eyes, when I want to read webpages, especially if there is a lot of text ? I've heard a tablet might do the trick.

Reading from the computer monitor or laptop is terrible, as it tires the eyes greatly. Same with a phone, and the screen is too small.

Also, printing out pages and pages will prove too costly.

Thanks for any advice.

I wonder if something like the Boox line of e-ink tablets would work. They seem to run Android and can load apps from Google Play store so you should have access to your usual host of web browsers.

Thats what accessability tools are for.

What screens do you have? There is a big difference for me between IPS and VA screens.

A good pair of prescription glasses goes a long way even if you don’t need them for day to day tasks, it helps relax the muscles in your eyes. Wish I’d got a pair during my student days.

I see Windows has a narrator. That will work great. Just need to find a narrator that sounds human.

Those look epic but $499 is not cheap

As B-1 asked, what monitor do you have? Is e.g. the backlight failing and flickering? Is the screen very dim / environment very bright? Have you had your eyes checked, maybe see if you need glasses / a different prescription?

I don't want to read lots of text from a screen. Does not matter how my screen settings are set. I don't like looking at a screen too long.

Firefox has reader mode and dark mode. Works good for me when needing to open large text pages.

Paste the article into everybody's favourite - ChatGPT - and ask it to summarise for you.
