Devices constantly disconnect from router

Hoping for some help.
I have a Asus TUF-AX5400 router and everything connects and works perfectly fine except for two devices.
My Philips Airfryer and RainPoint Irrigation Controller.
They both lose connections about every day, sometimes after 2 - 3 days and the only way to get them to reconnect is to restart the router.
Restarting them doesnt fix anything, only after restarting the router.

I have disabled smart wifi, combined and separated both 2.4GHz and 5GHz wifi but still they disconnect.
When checking the list of devices i see them both there but with constant error messages that appear and disappear (cant remember what the error says unfortunately, but believe it is something like connection error)
Not sure if there's a means to assign fixed IP or MAC to each device and havent done a factory reset on the Asus, probably something i should do, but seeing as the other devices dont have a connection issue, i highly doubt that would fix anything.

All the other items stay connected:
3x cameras connected on 2.4GHz, 1x printer on 2.4GHz, 1x firestick on 5GHz, 3x phones, 1x AV receiver 2.4GHz.

I have swapped the Asus for a cheap Xiaomi router and so far no disconnection on any of the two devices, so clearly they are not malfunctioning or damaged.

Anyone know of any setting that could hinder these two devices from staying connected? Something to enable or disable, change or assign?

Are these the further away by any chance? They are more than likely 2.4ghz so see if you can set the power higher for that band specifically.

Also turn any Auto Channel stuff off for 2.4Ghz. Chances are you’ve setup the wrong country and it’s using Channels 12 and 13 which these devices don’t support and when it switches channels they drop off. Since you say rebooting the router fixes it this is most likely the culprit.

You should be able to set them “static” reserved IP’s with a MAC address under your DHCP setup somewhere.

Nope, the RainPoint is like 1 m away and the AirFryer just a few meters, so distance isnt a factor.
Ill hook it back up and see what region it is set to or maybe just choose a specific 2.4Ghz channel, BTW which would be best or preferred?

Think ill give the channel a go first and if that doesnt fix it, ill go the fixed IP route, but highly doubt it is a conflict of IP that's causing it.

I dont want to change too many things at once, as i wont know what actually is causing the problem should it be fixed. Will leave smart wifi band routing as that didnt have any effect last time.

Would creating a guest 2.4Ghz also be an option? And having them connect to it? Not sure if a specific channel can be selected for guest or if it uses main wifi settings.

Guest won’t really change anything.

My money is on your router going to Channel 12/13 upon a scan as they would seem underutilized due to not being officially supported in SA.

If you can see a channel selection and 12 and 13 are there it’s almost definitely your problem as the ASUS likely defaults to China as I recall which allows them.

If South Africa isn’t listed just choose a European country and check your channel lists and if it only goes up to 11 you are all good and can just keep using Auto.

Using something like https://www.metageek.com/inssider/ you can scan your surroundings and it will show you which channels are being used and then just choose one of the lesser used ones.

Many people will say use 1,6 or 11 but if everyone else is doing exactly that it will be the most congested.

Auto mode does this work for you and choose the least used when it scans. So setting the region and sticking to Auto would be better overall.

Which is why it likely fixes itself on reboot as it forces a channel scan.

Can also be the units (802.11n) or router not conforming to the 802.11ax standard properly. Seen plenty of similar issues, even from the likes of xbox/ps 5 consoles etc. that cant even see the ssid's properly if the router broadcasts the ax/n mixed incorrectly or to their own relatively loose standards.

You want have that k@k with ubiquiti or mikrotik.
