Another cool must have is an external usb card reader... I use the Transcend one which fits nicely in my camera bag (Rezo AW 170).

I should add that for Nikon shooters, the 18-200mm VR is pretty good from the shots I've seen and reviews out there.

I am new to the game, does it have a "autofocus" motor in the lense? And I am scared to ask but what is the average price more or less?

Does anyone know what cheaper alternatives there are for Nikon lenses?

Any good knockoffs?

Any site you might recomend I go look at?

I own a D60.

Dont know about knockoffs () but both Sigma and Tameron make some decent glass for most mounts.

Are you looking for any specific lens or do you just want to browse what's available?

Browse please :D

Ok I want some lenses but I do not have R6000 for them :)

Do you guys maybe know of a cheaper alternative? I am not looking for anything uber just a nice multi purpose lense.

I understand your predicament ... many of us have been in your shoes ...

If you had a Canon, I would tell you to go buy the 50mm f1.8. You won't be sorry ... google and see if there is something like that for Nikon.

Maybe Nikon users can also post details of the value, quality lenses. This would help.

I also suggest that you do a lot of web research on your own and use threads/forums to validate certain choices you make.

All the best!

I do not know about the Nikon stuff but from all the research I've done I always read that that the 18-200mm VR Nikon lens is the bomb .. it is the lens you alluded to in another thread.

I agree with bwana - don't scimp on the glass - you WILL be sorry.

Thanks for the info :D

I won't skimp on glass but I am looking for a nice cheapish Telephoto type lense just to get started.

Yes I also heard that the 18-200 Nikon is an awesome lens, and that will be next years X-mass pressie.

But for now I will do what Bwana suggested and look for some second-hand glass :)
