Is anyone running a DFI Lanparty UT4 SLI-DR Expert? I using DDR400 Trancend RAM (TS128MLD64V4J) and am having to wait ±50 secs for WINXP to shutdown. DFI believe it is the 'low budget RAM' - could this be true? The mobo is slightly overclocked. I am using 2.5-3-3-7 timings instead of the 3-3-3-8.

If it is the RAM, what would suitable high performance locally available RAM be?

Hope you get a reply soon, I'd love to know if ram causes this, I'm also experiencing slow shutdowns on Hynix 1GB 2= 512mb DDR400 ;)

Not hardware related (at least not ram) check what services/programs are running when you are about to shutdown. You could kill them off 1 by 1 until you find the one service/program that's stalling the shutdown process

Yes, I tend to agree. The RAM has been great on my A8V and A8N ASUS mobos. This problem is with a fresh install - no other programmes loaded!

Have obtained an evaluation version of XP Pro - many years younger than mine - will load it on my other partition and see. Also will load on an IDE H/D and see if this performs any different.

Transcend is fine.

Run your system at stock speeds and check, always test your OC.

Update BIOS, drvers, Windows etc;
