Hi I wonder if anyone can help.

Yesterday my ADSL line was installed. Last night the my ADSL connection through the DG834G was working fine. Today I came home to find the ADSL link light was off and, obviously, we had no connection. I phoned Telkom and asked asked them to test the line. In the meantime I thought I would go ahead and upgrade the firmware to DG834(G)_V2.10.17.img incase that was a possible issue.

Anyway it went through the whole flashing process, rebooted and then it came up with the lights flashing consistently (between the green power light and the orange test (tick) light). NOW I can't get into the modem or at least stop the lights from flashing.

My qeustion is: Does anyboday know how to reset the unit to its factory defaults so that I can at least re-configure the unit?

I have tried the recovery tool and no luck there either.

Your help will be much appreciated!

Take it to the agents .... Duxbury they are in C.T and JHB ... they can swop it out since it is in warranty.

Hmm ... did you check that you flashed the RIGHT firmware ???.

There are TWO models of DG834 available ... the normal 54Mbps wireless one and the new Turbo G 108Mbs.

At the back of the unit between the DSL port and the first ethernet port is a hole ... shove a paperclip in there and hold down for at least 5 seconds to wipe the internal RAM.

Hi tibby.dude

Thanks for your reply. i did get the right firmware (mine is the dg834g not dg834gt). It might be possible that because my software firewall was not disabled it interfered with the update. I've tried the reset thing - power out, then hold reset, then power in hold reset for 20 secs, tried normal way of reset, and any other type of reset but still no luck there. I spoke to duxbury and they said maybe I should bring it in, and maybe they will swap it out -but it could take 2 days - which means I will be stuck with iBurst for the weekend - damn! Another problem I just found out was that the update I used was a beta version and therefore unsupported - bleh. But thanks anyway again

Rather strange that the recovery wizard (UpgradeWizard.exe) did not work either ???.
What did it do when you selected your LAN card ???.

it came up showing no device. I think the problem lies in the flashin lights and not giving out an ip address. It seems it has no ip address either - cant ping it!
