DG834 Remote Access

I have just got a Netgear DG834 ADSL Firewall Router, and was wondering if there is a way to access the files from one of the computers on the network, from another computer on the internet.

If there is a way, is it safe or not?

FTP, SSH, PCAnywhere are possible options, depending on exactly what it is you want to do.
