Diablo 3 with a bad internet connection?

So I want to play diablo 3 single player. What I want to know is this:
Is the game hasted locally or is there continuous data transfer taking place that will affect the quality of single player gaming if the internet connection drops? I am living in central africa at the moment and my internet connection is really shoddy. If the connection to the servers only takes place when the game loads I suspect I will not have an issue, but if it continuously transfers data or checks whether the client is still connected I might have issues.

Nope, it's continuous. If you have a terrible connection, you're going to have a bad time. However, if it's the SP campaign (and you're not playing HC mode) then you could probably try live with it. If you were playing Seasons and trying to finish high level G-rifts, you'd be pulling your hair out in no time.
