Diamond Engagement Ring

Anyone know where I can get an engagement ring made? I know exactly what I want and have been quoted a price from one of the Chains stores.

Should I source the Diamonds myself from a dealer or should I go through other channels like a Jeweler?

Any advice or contact people would be great, just looking for a good price and value for money.
 
What area are you in?

I had mine made. I bought the diamonds individually, then had everything made by the same place.

Diamond source was very good for me and the price I paid compared to the evaluations I have had done are extremely good.
They also assisted with design suggestions etc.

I am in Johannesburg (Randburg Area).

I have the design and specifications of the diamonds I want on the ring.

Sourcing it through a jeweler instead of a chain store is definitely the way to go. I ended up getting my wife's ring for about 50% of it's valuation. I unfortunately cannot remember the name of the jeweler that I went to. I can direct you to their work place if you are near to Alberton, but no name springs to mind.
 
I used Smiths Manufacturing Jewelers in Greenstone for an engagement ring and wedding bands for my wife.

They had a very good selection of diamonds and designed exactly what we what we wanted.
They were also willing to make slight alterations to the bands when we weren't 100% happy with the first attempt.

Sorry to hijack your thread, but has anybody had any dealings with Intl diamond Merchants in Durban at Musgrave center?
