Did MWEB over charge you?

I have the 4mb uncapped with them. Just the bandwidth charges. I downloaded 250 or so GBs last month and now have a bill for R1900.

Is anyone else getting charged extra? Im trying to figure out why they are charging me this amount and I can only assume its because I went over an invisible line.

Anyone know why I would be getting charged extra? Billing error? Used too much bandwidth?

Remember they charge you in advance ... so the first month subscription should be only R1073.

When did you get the account? Remember you actually pay before you use, say they retroactively charge you for your first month. Which means you pay double at the start of the second month and from then on the nromal amount at the start of every month.

For example I will pay R438 (2 x R219) at the start of next month and I signed up the start of this month.

This is what I paid the end of the month: 30/04/2010 R 1078.00 (for April and ahead for May)

My usage was: 248160.5

I'm sure that must be some billing error.

Wow, I looked on my invoice and it said the same thing! I got such a fright. But the above people are right, if you look at the from date and the to date, it should cover two months.

Okay, mine is R1900 odd (but I did get it in the last days of March... I think).

Still doesn't work out. Even if you signed up in the last bit of March it should work out:

March: R269.50 (old pro-rate rate)
April: R539
May: R539

Total: R1347.5

Do you have any other services with Mweb maybe? I'd highly recommend phoning them.

Yes, my bill was also R1347.50 because I signed up in the last few days of March

Yeah, I also got to pay R548 in the first month. Like a fool I didn't realise the old pro-rata rate was still in effect until the end of April and only came into effect on 1 May. So I've effectively ended up paying R109 for 1 day of usage Guess I just got to accept it and move on!
