Quality.
In March 2005, MyADSL, a South African-based ADSL user group,
rated Telkom’s DSL 384 product as the country’s top offering
ahead of a variety of mobile and wireless solutions. Respondents
favoured the product for its good price, performance and reliability as
well as best service in South Africa. The second and third places in the
survey were also awarded to other variants of Telkom’s ADSL offering.

Not sure if this has been posted before

Bit before my time on MyADSL, but I think that is correct.

It is a loaded poll. Sort of like, how would you prefer to die?:
1. Hung Drawn and quartered
2. Burned to Death
3. Buried alive

Another survey have been twisted be telkom.

I think MyADSL polls should have clearer choices for e.g. what is the better and have a "None of the above" too

ADSL512
ADSL384
ADSL192
56KDialup
Carrier Pigeon
none of the Above

so Telkom who cant seem to read BASIC english can interpret the numbers correctly.

You forgot the runner with cleft stick... :D

A choice of two runners is offered :

Standard runner with cleft stick for normal data
Bicycle runner with cleft stick for mission-critical data :D

Since most people will only ever need a two inch stick, that will be standard. Should your runner need to carry a bigger stick, you will need to upgrade.

I don't think it was a poll. I think it was researched by the MyADSL team. BUT, this comparison is only based on LOCAL services. The actual research extended internationally and there Telkom's 384 HomeDSL scored extremely poorly, but you won't find any mention of that in Telkom's report. Specifically because they cry foul every time you compare them to international vendors.

Juice

Telkom is more than happy to quote MyADSL when it suits them.

BUT - when it comes to wanting change, we are 'a minority' according to Telkom.

Double standards deluxe.

The statement : Teklom 384 voted the best is an admission of guilt. Surely teklom's top product [1024] should be their best newayz.

The research back then was based on actual tests [throughput] and user opinions. There were no other ADSL ISP's and no other way to get ADSL. IBurst was having huuuuuge teething problems, and every other wireless operator was practically non-existant.

I thought about runners, but they were retrenched last year in Telkoms cost cutting excersises.... ooops, I mean profit boosting excersises.

Don't forget that if Telkom starts to offer the runner option he will be capped. So your options will be as follows:

1) Blind runner (Basic cap)
2) Blind, deaf runner (Moderate cap)
3) Blind, deaf, legless runner (Ultra cap) (For those who abuse the service by sending more than one message a month)

For very high end users, Steven White Lies will be happy to fly to Hong Kong, All expenses paid, for you :)

Request a retraction

I think MyADSL should once again request a retraction and public apology for being quoted out of context, Telkom are Using MyADSL for their own purposes once again, and that should not under any circumstances be allowed.

Can we perhaps have less ambiguous polls on MyADSL such as "Is Telkom/SAIX pricing fair? Yes (Only Telkom employees to tick here), No (All ADSL users to tick here), Maybe (No-one to tick here)"

Yup, that info comes from MyADSL's broadband report if I am not mistaken. Not a poll and yes as was pointed out Telkom's broadband services SUCK BIG TIME when compared to anywhere else on earth but the North and South poles...

Even then the Eskimos and scientists have cheaper connections be they affected by snow and weather... ;)
